Busyness is our estimate from the Islamic calendar and Saudi school holidays. It is not an official forecast. Hijri dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. Ramadan, Shawwal and Dhu al-Hijjah start with the moon sighting, so these dates can move by a day.

Best time to visit

For a visit to Madinah and Masjid an-Nabawi, use these busyness levels as our estimates based on the Islamic calendar and school holidays, not as an official forecast.

Quieter times

October 2026 and November 2026 are estimated to have quieter days for most of each month. November has an autumn school break from 20 to 28 November, so check your dates if you hope to avoid school-holiday periods.

Most comfortable weather

For milder average temperatures, consider December through February: average highs range from 24°C to 27°C, with lows from 12°C to 14°C. These months are estimated to be busy or peak, so milder weather may mean planning around higher busyness.

Ramadan and the last ten nights

Ramadan is expected to begin on 8 February 2027, and the last ten nights are expected to begin on the night before 28 February; these dates may move by a day with the moon sighting. February and March are estimated to be peak-busyness months, with most days at peak in both.

The Hajj season and Eid al-Adha

Hajj days are expected to fall from 14 to 19 May 2027, and Eid al-Adha is expected on 16 May; dates may move by a day with the moon sighting. May is estimated to be peak, and the Eid al-Adha school holiday runs from 30 April to 22 May.

Families and school holidays

School breaks include 8 to 16 January, 19 to 22 February, and 26 February to 13 March 2027; the Eid al-Fitr holiday dates depend on the moon sighting. The summer school holiday begins on 1 July, with its end date not yet published; July through September are estimated to be moderate.
