What this plan covers

For a week in Madinah during Ramadan, centre your days on prayers at Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque). Arrange your Rawdah permit through Nusuk first and plan that day around the slot shown. Short outings after Fajr take you to Quba, Masjid al-Qiblatayn and Uhud; afternoons leave room to return before the busier Maghrib and Isha period. Find prayer times in Nusuk or the Haram's published timetable. Iftar arrangements and crowd routes at the mosque can change. Check signs and ask staff when you arrive.

Airport transfer

Getting around 30 minutes

Madinah airport is your arrival point. The destination guide puts a taxi journey to central hotels at about 25 minutes, giving you a starting point for planning your first visit to the mosque.

Good to know

Use the journey estimate as a guide; traffic may affect your arrival time. Take a taxi from MED to your chosen hotel zone before going to the mosque.

Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque)

Culture 1.5 hours

After the Hijrah, the Prophet ﷺ built this mosque in Madinah with the Companions. Its first structure used mud brick and palm trunks. It served as a place of prayer and a centre for learning and community affairs; visitors come to the historic centre of Madinah's community. Your Ramadan stay centres on this mosque, which also contains the Rawdah. Begin with the prayers that fit your arrival rather than trying to add another outing to the evening.

Good to know

Iftar spreads and crowd guidance have operated here in past Ramadans; follow the arrangements posted during your visit. Travel from your hotel to the mosque, then use the on-site signs to find a route.

Day 2

2 stops · about 2 hrs
3

Ar-Rawdah ash-Sharifah (the Rawdah)

Culture 30 minutes

Inside the mosque, the Rawdah lies between the tomb of the Prophet ﷺ and his minbar. A hadith describes this area as a garden from the gardens of Paradise, known as Riyad al-Jannah. Visitors include the Rawdah during their time at the mosque, following the access arrangements in place. Your permit gives this day its fixed appointment. Because the Rawdah is within the mosque, the visit can sit alongside prayers there without a journey across Madinah.

Good to know

Obtain the free permit through Nusuk and follow its instructions and assigned slot; entry does not follow a fixed window. Go to the mosque with your permit and follow the entry directions displayed there.

4

Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque)

Culture 1.5 hours

After the Rawdah appointment, the wider mosque remains your prayer anchor. Staying nearby avoids adding travel to a day with a permit-controlled visit.

Good to know

Plan your return around the published prayer timetable; your Rawdah appointment may not end at a set time. Remain in the central mosque area after your Rawdah visit, or return from your hotel.

Day 3

2 stops · about 2 hrs
5

Quba Mosque

Culture 1.5 hours

Quba Mosque was the first mosque built after the Hijrah. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ helped lay its foundation, and the Companions completed it. Its connection to the earliest days of the Madinah community brings visitors here. Quba begins the morning ziyarat at the mosque founded after the migration from Makkah. It lies about 3.5 km from Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque), though road time depends on traffic.

Good to know

Keep your onward journey to Masjid al-Qiblatayn in mind before leaving Quba. Head to Quba from the central area as the first stop on your arranged morning route.

Masjid al-Qiblatayn (Mosque of the Two Qiblas)

Culture 30 minutes

This mosque is associated with the change in prayer direction from Jerusalem to the Kaaba in Makkah during a prayer led by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Its name means “two qiblas.” The account of that change brings Muslims here on a Madinah ziyarat. Masjid al-Qiblatayn adds a distinct event from early Islamic history to the Quba outing. Its association with the change of prayer direction makes it a focused second stop.

Good to know

Keep the visit brief so you can return to the central area before the afternoon. Continue from Quba on the route agreed with your driver or operator.

Day 4

2 stops · about 2 hrs
7

Jannat al-Baqi (the Baqi cemetery)

Culture 30 minutes

Jannat al-Baqi is the historic cemetery beside the mosque. Many Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and members of the family of the Prophet ﷺ were buried there. This connection to the early Madinah community draws visitors. Baqi is beside the mosque, making it a nearby stop on a day without a longer ziyarat route. The visit focuses on the history of the family of the Prophet ﷺ and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).

Good to know

Access arrangements change; follow local signs and staff. Ask your scholar for guidance on the practice. Approach from the mosque area using the route indicated on site.

8

Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque)

Culture 1.5 hours

A return to the mosque gives this quieter day its centre without another cross-city trip. Baqi's position beside it keeps travel between the stops short.

Good to know

Ask staff for the current route if crowd levels change paths around the mosque. Return to the mosque from the adjoining cemetery area.

Day 5

2 stops · about 2 hrs
9

Mount Uhud and the Uhud martyrs' cemetery

Culture 1.5 hours

The Battle of Uhud took place at the foot of Mount Uhud in the 3rd year of the Hijrah. Shuhada Uhud is the burial place of Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) and others. Visitors come to remember the battle and those who died in it. Uhud is the main stop of this morning's ziyarat. The martyrs' burial area at the mountain's foot connects the account of the battle with its setting.

Good to know

The ground is reported to be uneven and steep in places. Follow local access directions and your scholar’s guidance. Head to Uhud on the morning route arranged for these two stops.

10

Seven Mosques (Al-Masajid as-Sab'ah, Khandaq)

Culture 30 minutes

These small mosques stand in the area of the trench dug to defend Madinah during the Battle of the Trench. Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) is credited with the plan. The connection between the Khandaq account and this place brings visitors here. The Khandaq area brings a different episode of Madinah's early history into the same morning outing. Figures differ on the number of mosques in the cluster.

Good to know

Ask your driver to identify the intended stopping point before you leave Uhud. Continue towards the mosque cluster near Mount Sala'.

Day 6

2 stops · about 2 hrs
11

Dar Al Madinah Museum

Culture 1.5 hours

The museum covers Madinah's history and the early Islamic era. Artefacts and scale models depict the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ, Uhud and Quba.

Good to know

Locations differ between sources. Entry is reported as paid. Confirm the address, visiting arrangements and price before you go. Travel to the confirmed museum address rather than relying on an older map listing.

12

Dates markets near the Prophet's Mosque

Shopping 30 minutes

Madinah is known for dates, including Ajwa. Souq al-Manakha and nearby markets also sell perfume, prayer beads, clothing and gifts. The stop offers a chance to compare dates before choosing what to take home.

Good to know

Compare the quality and weight of dates before paying, and buy from reputable sellers. Make this a separate stop near the mosque after returning from the museum.

Day 7

2 stops · about 2 hrs
13

Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (the Prophet's Mosque)

Culture 1.5 hours

Prayers at the mosque close your stay in Madinah. Which ones fit depends on your flight and the time needed to reach the airport; the mosque remains your final prayer anchor before departure.

Good to know

Compare the day's prayer timetable with your departure arrangements before leaving your hotel. Visit from your hotel, then return for your belongings before the airport trip.

14

Airport transfer

Getting around 30 minutes

The journey back to MED closes the week. The guide's roughly 25-minute taxi estimate from central hotels is useful for orientation, but it does not account for your full departure arrangements.

Good to know

Set your departure from the hotel around your flight arrangements, not the drive estimate alone. From your hotel, take a taxi to Madinah airport for your departure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fit the seven days around prayers?
Keep the mosque as your daily anchor and place the Quba and Uhud outings after Fajr. The Rawdah appointment sets one day's fixed commitment; the museum can fit on the lighter day. Arrival and departure prayers depend on your flights.
How do I arrange the Rawdah visit?
Use the official Nusuk app or website to get a permit and choose an available slot, then follow the instructions. Access arrangements can change. Use the Haram signs and ask staff for help. Check Nusuk for the latest permit details before you travel.
What should I wear and bring?
Choose clothing suitable for visits to masjids and sacred sites, and shoes that work for the uneven ground around Uhud. Bring access to your Rawdah permit on your phone. For anything specific to your circumstances or practice, ask your scholar or operator.
How do I get around for the morning ziyarat?
Options include a hotel-arranged car, a taxi by the hour or a guided half-day outing sold by an operator. Agree the route and price before leaving. Keep Quba with Masjid al-Qiblatayn and Uhud with the Khandaq area as separate morning trips.
When should I go during Ramadan?
The Umm al-Qura calendar expects Ramadan 1448 AH to begin on February 8, 2027, but the official start depends on moon sighting. Morning outings suit this schedule; the period around Maghrib and Isha is reported to be busier at the mosque.
